I went on A Friday at lunchtime and as I walked up they locked the door and said we are going to lunch. I asked for how long and she said 25 minutes so I had to drive around for 25 minutes. This was ridiculous to me as she could have waited on me and then closed for lunch or work through your lunch. The bakery was full of many delicious looking treats including churros. I bought a few of the baked good that caught my eye and they were delicious. I did not see prices or names of what was what. There also is a mini grocery/corner type store inside. Loved the bakery but i guess don't come at lunch because they will shut the door in your face!

I'm a serious sucker for mom-and-pop local establishments. La Bendicion Bakery is a perfect example! The women Owner had her young son in the store the day I stopped in (Columbus city schools were cancelled for the day, due to the weather). Since I know no Spanish, the son did a great job telling me what everything was, and translated anything that was confusing for his mother. I came for the homemade Central American breads and pastries. I picked a huge Guatemalan sweet roll, and three Mexican sweet cheese pastries (strawberry, lemon and plain sweet cheese). The Mexican pastries are super flavorful: The thin layer of fruit mixed with the sweet cheese, inside the soft golden brown pastry flakes? Oh hells yeah! Warmed it up, poured some cool milk in the bowl for it to soak up, andBam! yummy bedtime snack!

I absolutely love this bakery! The sweet bread smell when you walk in and the friendly staff are very welcoming. Their Atol de elote is always warm and full of flavor. They have a variety of bread to choose from that look fresh and taste delicious! It's definitely a treat I look forward to after exams!

I'm glad to find one of the newest additions to our Columbus Ohio food choices and that is La Bendicion Bakery, which is a new Guatemalan bakery on the east side of town. Let's get this out of the way. Frankly speaking, this small, family owned bakery doesn't have much curb appeal. It sits in a run down strip mall on the south edge of Whitehall. It's hardly noticeable from the street. That being said, it's still a great little find. Going in you will find that the bakery is neat and clean with a couple of display cases, but no seating. Their Guatemalan pastries - neatly arranged in the display cases are the lure here. Churros, Conchas, and Galletas de Azucar are all freshly baked and ready for sale. Their prices are incredibly cheap too. The Conchas and Galletas de Azucar were huge and only 75 cents each. Try getting that kind of value at Giant Eagle or Kroger. The folks that own it don't seem to speak English but you'll get by with a little broken Spanish or even just pointing to what you want.
